Overland I - Full Day
Flick dry flies to cherry trout on mountain streams. Trout fishing for Korean cherry trout requires patience, perseverance and lots of floatant to keep flies riding high. Overnight camps are client favorites. Rental rods and tackle are available for anglers travelling on the lighter side.
Japan
Taimen - III Day
Fly Fishing Japan is truly a mixed bag of gamefish opportunities from the exotic to the ordinary, you’ll find it here in Hokkaido. Fly fish for Japan’s colorful iwana char, miyabe char, yamame “cherry trout” white-spotted char, and the chance encounter with an elusive Sakhalin taimen.

Overland II - Two Day
Fly Fish Korea’s more remote high mountain trout streams for landlocked cherry salmon and streamborne, non-native rainbow trout and seasonal opportunities for chum salmon and Pacific searun dace. Rods and tackle are available for anglers travelling on the lighter side.
Mongolia
Taimen Camp
Taimen will hunt down prey and attempt to pack on as much weight as possible. Winters in Mongolia are harsh. The taimen, Siberian trout, and Amur pike will all be in competition to smash your flies. Not to say the fishing is too easy. At times, taimen can be mysteriously elusive.

I fished with Matt in Mongolia when he was rowing a boat in Northern Mongolia as a young guide several years ago. It’s been several years since that epic trip to Mongolia but the memories are fresh as yesterday.
